THE HERITAGE ACC BANK CORPORATE AND CELEBRITY PRO AM 2006
The Heritage ACC Bank Corporate and Celebrity Pro Am 2006 was held at The Heritage Golf & Spa Resort's world renowned golf course over the weekend of the 23rd and 24th of June 2006. Co-designed by Seve Ballesteros and Jeff Howes Design the 18-hole championship golf course attracted a host of golfing professionals and celebrities from the worlds of sport and entertainment. Former Ryder Cup players Eamon Darcy and Philip Walton joined Keith Duffy, Des Bishop, Niall Quinn, Minister Tom Kitt T.D., soccer international Alan Kelly, Kevin Moran and Champion Jockey Conor O’Dwyer among others to help raise funds for DEBRA Ireland and Fighting Blindness. There were 40 teams in total which included one professional golfer, one celebrity and two amateurs. Later in the evening over 300 people enjoyed a pre dinner drinks reception, sipping Dom Perignon before sitting down to a five course gala dinner in the magnificent ballroom on Friday evening. Audrey O’Dwyer, Gillian Doran, Eleanor Moran, and Elaine Whelan stepped out in amazing style for the evening while Gillian Quinn looked stunning as ever.
The action continued on the golf course the next day with Niall Quinn’s team emerging victorious. The winning team also included professional Philip Walton, John Givens and Jack Tierney, bringing in a score of 178 points for the two rounds. The amateurs were presented with a piece of specially commissioned Galway Crystal inscribed with the Heritage and ACC Bank logos.
The winning professional was Simon Thornton from Royal County Down Club who won €9,000. Colm Darling CEO, ACC Bank made the presentations on behalf of the title sponsor.
