Brophy Videography began over 30 years ago in Portlaoise, Co. Laois, with a simple passion for capturing special moments on film. From the early days of recording weddings and local events, the business has grown into a trusted name in wedding videography, while always keeping the same personal approach at its heart.
Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of filming thousands of memories — from wedding mornings and emotional ceremonies to hilarious speeches, family celebrations and unforgettable moments on the dance floor. We’ve also captured some wonderful sporting, corporate and community occasions, creating a visual record of moments that might otherwise be lost to time.

Taking on Brophy Videography after my dad John means a huge amount to me. It’s not just continuing a business, it’s carrying on something he built with so much passion, hard work and pride.
I grew up around it, so videography has always been part of my life. To now have the opportunity to keep Dad’s name and his work going, while also bringing my own ideas and style to it, is something I’m incredibly proud of.
For me, it’s about honouring what Dad started, keeping that same personal approach with every couple and family we work with, and hopefully building the next chapter of Brophy Videography in a way that would make him proud.

My style of wedding videography is natural, cinematic, and story-driven. I focus on capturing the genuine moments of the day as they happen, the laughs, happy tears, little glances, and all the moments in between.
I like my films to feel authentic rather than overly staged, while still having a beautiful cinematic quality. I’ll give you some gentle direction when needed, but for the most part, I want you to relax, enjoy your day, and let me capture it naturally.
My goal is to create a wedding film that doesn’t just show you what happened, but brings you back to how it felt.

Discretion and natural moments. I consistently positioned itself around being unobtrusive—capturing people as they actually behave rather than making them perform for the camera. That’s particularly valuable for couples who don’t want a videographer constantly in their faces.

Experience. I have been operating for over 20 years, which gives a real advantage on a wedding day: knowing where to be, anticipating what is about to happen, and staying calm when the day inevitably gets hectic.
 
A documentary feel with professional production. My main emphasis is for genuine interactions, family and those little moments couples might otherwise miss, while still using professional recording equipment and audio.

There’s something really special about knowing that, years from now, a couple can press play and be transported right back to how they felt on one of the most meaningful days of their lives. That’s what makes wedding films so rewarding for me — preserving the feeling, not just the events.

I’d say, choose someone you genuinely connect with. Obviously, you want to love their films, but you’re also going to have this person around you for a huge part of your wedding day, so you need to feel comfortable with them.
You want someone you can trust, someone who gets you as a couple, and someone whose presence you actually enjoy. Because ultimately, you’re not just booking a camera — you’re booking a person who’s going to be there to capture some really important moments in your life.

I’d say, I completely understand and honestly, you don’t have to be comfortable with being on camera.
You just need to be comfortable with the person holding it.
A good videographer shouldn’t make you feel like you’re being filmed every second of the day. I’m not going to be standing in front of you saying, “Right, do that again!”
A lot of what I capture is just me quietly observing what’s happening. A look between the two of you, your parents seeing you for the first time, your friends messing around, someone laughing during the speeches.
You don’t have to perform for the camera. Just enjoy your day and I’ll take care of the rest.

For me, it’s communication and just being easy to work with.
Nobody wants suppliers who are stressing the couple out on their wedding day. Things will happen. Timings will change. Someone will be running late. That’s weddings!
The best teams are the ones who can just roll with it, communicate with each other and keep the couple completely relaxed.
When everyone trusts each other and knows what they’re doing, you barely notice the team working in the background — and that’s exactly how it should be.

Just enjoy it.
Honestly, that’s probably the biggest thing I’d say.
You’ve spent so much time planning everything, and it’s so easy on the day to get caught up in whether everything is running perfectly.
But nobody is going to remember if the flowers were slightly late or if something didn’t go exactly according to plan.
You’ll remember how you felt. You’ll remember seeing each other, having your friends and family all together, the speeches, the dancing, the little moments in between.
So don’t worry too much about making everything perfect. Just be present, enjoy each other, and let the day happen.
Those are the moments you’ll want to remember — and they’re the moments that make the best wedding films.

Really important.
A wedding day is such a team effort, and when all the suppliers know each other and communicate well, it makes everything so much easier.
If I know the photographer and the venue team, we can work around each other without getting in each other’s way. We all know we’re there for the same reason, which is to make sure the couple have an amazing day.
And weddings don’t always go exactly to plan, so having a team that’s able to communicate and adapt makes a huge difference.
