The hotel has actively supported local initiatives including Killenard Tidy Towns clean-up projects, Laois Clean-Up Week activities, and environmental awareness programmes linked to Earth Day and World Clean Up Day. Collaboration with Killenard National School has included water conservation projects, biodiversity initiatives, planting programmes, and educational sustainability activities designed to inspire environmental responsibility among younger generations. The Heritage is also proud to support local sport and community wellbeing as sponsors of Banríon Gaels, O’Dempsey’s GAA, and Laois Hire O’Moore Park. Through community fundraising events, local celebrations, sporting partnerships, and environmental projects, The Heritage continues to foster pride, connection, and positive impact within the local community.

Charity Partnerships

Over the past three years, The Heritage has proudly supported a number of charitable organisations and local causes through fundraising initiatives, community events, and guest engagement activities. Our partnership with Anam Cara has included fundraising events such as our annual Duck Race and seasonal charity collections – which raised over €5,000, while our Pink Afternoon Tea Weekend raised over €3,200 in support of the Irish Cancer Society. Additional initiatives, including community cycle events and Christmas fundraising activities, continue to bring guests, staff, and the local community together in support of meaningful causes.

Responsible Sourcing

Our commitment to ethical trade is reflected in our Supplier Code of Conduct, ensuring we source responsibly, prioritise local producers, and partner with suppliers who share our sustainability and ethical standards. Across our food and beverage offering, ingredients are sourced from County Laois and neighbouring counties to support local agriculture, reduce transport emissions, and celebrate regional produce. Partnerships with local producers such as G’s Gourmet Jams, Paddy O’s Granola, Merry Mill, Feighery’s Butchers, O’Gorman’s Mushrooms, Moore’s Pork Farm, Derryvilla Blueberry Farm, Ballykilcavan Brewery, and Edmundsbury Gardens allow us to deliver high-quality dining experiences while supporting the local economy and reinforcing our commitment to sustainable hospitality.
